OnCore Golf offer three different balls with something for golfers of all skill levels at competitive prices. We’ve said it a million times, but right now there couldn’t be a better time to commit to using the same ball every time you play. It gives consistency and similar results, which for most club golfers would be a decent step forward from using the different balls they find. DTC brands often offer discounts when you buy more, so if you can invest in five dozen for the year, it means you’ll get the best possible price, too. Can you tell the difference between the balls? We are pleased to be able to offer these recycled Snell MTB balls at amazingly low prices. Their makers claim that they offer tour caliber golf balls to the everyday player at an affordable price. So why not give them a try and see how they can improve your game?

Lately we’ve been inundated with a rash of direct to consumer golf balls. Each claims to be something extraordinary. They’re “Tour Level’ or “Really straight”, and each ball pushes some sort of outstanding value. Now for something completely different that might just blow your mind. Are you ready for this? Ok, just imagine if there was a ball that flew straight all the time no matter how much you sliced it. How cool would that be?Spoiler alert: there is. It’s called the Polara ball and it flies straight no matter how much side spin you put on it. Soft or firm? -The best premium golf balls, and some of the models above, come in alternative versions that spin slightly less for players who prefer a firmer feel or more control off the tee. Try both from various distances to find your preference. Overall, the long game performance, in particular, has been taken up a notch. For a relatively low-compression ball, we were impressed by the strength of the flight and the overall distance and, when you couple that with the spin control offered by the cast urethane-cover, you have a solid all rounder that provides regular golfers with a good value for money alternative.

Cover material -Urethane-covered balls offer the best spin control and feel but do cost more. Experiment to see if you notice enough of a difference to justify the extra cost. So how does this miracle ball work then? Well it’s all about the dimple pattern, which in 1981 the USGA and R&A decided should not be legal for tournament play and changed their rules to outlaw Polara and anything similar.

So while Titleist have to factor all of that into their pricing of a box of ProV1 balls, DTC companies can produce a golf ball of the same (or very similar) quality but come in at a significantly lower price point, sometimes at as little as half the cost of the ‘name’ brand. Most of you have heard of Titleist ProV1, Callaway Chrome Soft and TaylorMade TP5 golf balls. You may have even played with them but even if you haven’t then you’ll surely be aware that most of the world’s top players use these balls so they must be really good. They are indeed really good, and unsurprisingly, they aren't cheap.

Another new aspect to talk about is the unique Stripe option, which features a lime green and grey coloured band that wraps around the ball. Now, this look won't be for everyone, but we felt it created a very clear alignment aid off the tee and on the green. When you putt, the stripe clearly shows how effectively the ball is rolling end-over-end. Last but by no means least, they aren’t handing over millions in endorsements to leading tour professionals in exchange for them using their equipment. Players wouldn't use that gear if it was no good, but it's the endorsement contracts that usually make one brand stand out ahead of others for tour pros. Vice Pro Soft is for those with medium swing speeds, Vice Tour is an excellent budget choice for golfers of all abilities and Vice Drive is a 2-piece ball aimed at slower swingers looking for extra distance off the tee. Each ball was subjected to Launch Monitor testing as well as on course play by our testers. Our testers were also asked to hit multiple chips and pitches with high lofted clubs to verify durability using the same ball in each instance. The My Tour Ball is a phenomenal all-around performer from tee to green. Take that performance and combine it with the lowest price of any ball in this tests we can’t think of any reason why you shouldn’t try Snell’s My Tour Ball. MC: I usually play TaylorMade TP5X as I like the speed and sound off the face and the control it offers around the green. Within nine holes it was clear both Snell balls were quality products. For me there’s a definite difference in sound, with the Red sounding slightly harder. Snell: Dean Snell – Inventor or co-inventor of the Titleist Pro V1, TaylorMade TP, Penta, Project (a), and Tour Preferred.
