Description

Night Angel became the first U.S. female winner of 'The Masked Singer'. She was followed by LeAnn Rimes as Sun, Jewel as Queen of Hearts, Teyana Taylor as Firefly, Amber Riley as Harp and Bishop Briggs as Medusa. To accomplish this, Azoth is given a new identity and a new name, Kylar Stern, while he begins his training and attempts to unleash his "Talent", or his magical abilities that would extend his skills as a wetboy. Waiting for the phone to ring might’ve been a little boring for promising young FBI agent Peter, but once it does, he’s tasked with protecting a terrified civilian while they unravel a conspiracy that reaches all the way to the Oval Office.

A Titan is a huge creature possessed by a Stranger. Like krul, Titans can be raised over and over by meisters. Titans look like blue-skinned men from the front, with huge leathery wings, spikes along their spine, and a rat-like tail. In battle, they are surrounded by Red strangers referred to as fire ants or buulgari or the bugs. The Fire ants fight with very sophisticated techniques. Ultimately, Basso rose to the top — which only makes sense because, without realizing it, he’s been training to play Peter for his entire life. Basso has studied martial arts since childhood, and now knows boxing, Taekwondo, Muay Thai and is learning grappling. “I enjoy conflict of any kind. I was raised by a trial lawyer,” he tells Tudum. “So I enjoy mental conflict as well as the physical.” I really liked the original Night Angel trilogy, so I was very much looking forward to reading more of the story. Unfortunately, this book did not live up to what I was expecting.

Another thing, apparently this story is taking place 8-9 months after the ending of the Night Angel trilogy… there is no way. I refuse to believe that Kylar become that much of a loser and jerk within 9 months. Every character he talks with (especially from the previous series) ends up hating him because of how much of a jerk he is, whereas everyone loved him in the last series.

I have had a couple of grammar "experts", come on here and tell me I'm using quotation marks incorrectly. So let me tell you that quotation marks can be used to show sarcasm, it is actually a standard use of them, but don't take my word for it go to the link below:I was reading that thinking, what in the world is going on? Kylar just failed to protect the two sons of his best friend. Their loss, perhaps deaths, would ruin the lives of their parents and could lead to the destruction of the entire country. Multiple people died in the kidnapping, and tens of thousands more could if there were war. But no, Kylar has to be whiny and petulant. Little did I know that this was just the first of many lines like that. It later continues when Momma K asks him to go look for them, and wants to know what his non-negotiables are.

Born and raised in China, Weina came to the United States in her early twenties. She holds an M.A. in English from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. I could give so many more examples, but I would just end up quoting every thought of Kylar and every time he talks to someone. Kangaroo: "The Night Angel is the Goliath to my David. When I see her confidently stomping all over the stage during her performances, I feel terrified. Performing looks effortless for her." I'm assuming future books will alter our perception of the events in this book, but I don't know if that can make up for all of the mistakes. On the other hand, there is also another character, who goes by the name of Elene, who is so incomprehensibly annoying I would say she’s singlehandedly responsible for much of my disappointment with the book. I don’t really want to talk about her.

The snow globe and winter gear are clues to the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" spinoff series, "Kandi's Ski Trip." There is a lot of philosophizing in this book. There is a lot of repetition. There is a lot of description that felt unnecessary. I found it hard to gain momentum when before/during every fight there was paragraphs and paragraphs about morals, skills, humanity etc. Weeks does one of my most hated things. He has one person try to convey critical information. The person, who should be listening, instead continuously interrupts. There conversation ends up getting stopped short, and the person has to move forward with only some of the information they needed. It's so annoying. It's like: Night Angel: "Honestly, I may come off confident, but I have a secret. Kangaroo worries me. The fact is that her strength, that vulnerability, is my exact weakness. So I may seem like Goliath, but I can't forget." I have wanted a sequel to The Night Angel series for sooooo long, it was one of the first fantasy series I read that majorly got me into reading and it will always hold a special place in my heart. This series made me fall in love with actual grimdark characters, cool magic systems and dark/gritty fantasy worlds. In fact the talent remains one of my top 3 magic systems - out of all the fantasy books I have ever read....and I have read.... a lot of fantasy.
